Do lotus leaves have any toxic ingredients?

I recently developed a habit of drinking lotus leaves tea (just put dry lotus leaves in hot water). I know Chinese use lotus leaves to wrap some food so I guess they are edible. But since they are not conventionally made into tea, I just want to make sure it is fine. Do you know if there is any harmful ingredients in lotus leaves? Thanks for answering.

On this site you find all contents ( and uses ) of lotus, Nelumbo nucifera L. :

Regard the symbol for leaves in the table.

And here you find that the flowers, seeds, young leaves, and "roots" (rhizomes) are all edible:

So no problem; enjoy your lotus tea!
Reply:Toxicity in plants are as part of defense mechanism. They help them by preventing grazing by animals..
Reply:donno exactly, but i think there r no toxic substances in lotus leaves.
