Who makes Lotus Elise?

Like i know Lotus is the make and Elise is model, but what i mean is, If Toyota owns Lexus and Scion, who owns Lotus? that type deal...also what dealerships in America sell the Lotus. Ford dealerships for Ford, Dodge for Dodge...are there Lotus dealerships?

Who makes Lotus Elise?
Lotus is it's own company..like Toyota. There are Lotus dealerships..but usually they are combined dealerships specializing in exotic vehicles.
Reply:Toyota does not own Lotus. Lotus might be stupid enough to use Toyota engines in some of there cars, but not stupid enough to let them own the,. Lotus is owned buy Lotus.Yes there are Lotus dealers, but there few and far between.Chevrolet owned part of Lotus when they used them to help build the ZR1 Corvettes. After that they sold there share .Stupid move. Like buying Fiat and not getting Ferrari as part of the deal.Yes they did that.
Reply:suprisingly enough, a greedy conglomerate like gm. actually, gm. damn. lotus is way to good for gm, but its true, i just wikipedia'd it and its gm. though it shares similar engines with honda and toyota... honda even offers performance packages for it. oh well, now we both know...
Reply:Lotus was founded by racing enthusiast Anthony Colin Chapman in Britain. The first Lotus was built in 1948, and used by Chapman to compete in races. By 1955, Chapman had officially formed Lotus Cars Ltd.

In 1986, General Motors took full control of Lotus and created Lotus Cars USA in 1987. That relationship lasted until 1993, when GM sold Lotus to Bugatti. Bugatti's ownership was even shorter; Lotus was sold to a Malaysian firm in 1996. The same year, Lotus began producing the flyweight Elise.

Today, Lotus still remains true to Chapman's original desire of producing lightweight and race-oriented sports cars. With tight cabin accommodations and minimal comfort and storage features, modern Lotus cars make poor grocery-getters. But for the enthusiast looking for a car that offers world-class handling and style at a reasonable price, the Lotus brand is hard to beat.

And yes, there are Lotus Dealers. There is one close to where I live in DC. Lotuses are also sold at some dealers specializing in extoics and the like
Reply:Lotus is owned by Malaysian company called Proton. The Elise uses a 4cyl Toyota engine. You can buy a new Lotus at a Lotus dealer(yes they have them) or at a some general luxury/exotic car dealers.
Reply:As said by others Toyota is owned by Proton (GM group) and uses for the Elise and Exige the Toyota engines (originally the Elise just had the Rover K 1.8 engine). Lotus also placed a Volumex in recent versions and now you have 225, 240, 220 HP supercharged 1.8 liter Toyota engines and 192 and 135 HP NA engines. Lotus uses a 2 liter turbo GM engine for the Lotus Europa (probably not imported in U.S.).
Reply:Lotus is owned by GM, with a majority share held by Proton.

You can find dealerships through their website (third link), and the most common way that I can think of on purchasing one is through your local exotic car importer.
Reply:the toyota mr2 spider and the lotus elise/exige both share/shared the same motor toyota owns lotus
