Lotus Notes will not keep Inbox as it's default view.?

Whenever i log into Lotus Notes and click on the MAIL tab it takes me to a folder i created instead of sticking to the Inbox folder. Any ideas how i can make it stick to Inbox ?

Lotus Notes will not keep Inbox as it's default view.?
This normally entials 3 things:

a bug in the system, option configeration or conflicts with other software.

If this is a new problem that just poped up, run a system restore., if it has always been like that, chech the option set in the tool menu. finally, mke sure that all your software are not malware.
Reply:Had this happen to me a while back. Probably a minor bug in Lotus Notes. What worked for me was to close Lotus Notes, delete the CACHE.NDK file in C:\Program Files\lotus\notes\data, then restart Notes. A clean CASHE.NDK file gets recreated on start-up.

If that does not work for you, try moving all of the documents in your personal folder to a new folder, delete the old folder, go to the Inbox, then restart Notes.

Lotus notes v Word conundrum!?

Can anyone tell me how i can cut and paste a table that was created in Word into a Lotus notes email? This is urgent as i am desperately trying to prove someone wrong!

I have tried all the usual things, like import, paste special as picture etc as well as the basic copy and paste, but each time it is corrupting the format of the table.

Your info is very much appreciated!

Lotus notes v Word conundrum!?
I'm not sure why you are having any trouble because I simply highlight, copy (either CtrlC, right button of mouse or whatever way you are used to) and then paste it in without any problems at all). Having said that, I just tried it and it does take the table formatting away. Can you not send it as an attachment in present form or save as RTF?
Reply:How about the print screen button?

If the reader doesn't need to alter the table at all, you can do a print screen, and just crop out anything that you don't need.

Lotus Elise 2005 for . . Do you think i should buy it?
8000 damn thats good get it...
Reply:I have owned a Lotus Elise for a little over 2 years. This is by far the most fun to drive car ever. It handles like a go-cart and boy does it go! If you ever have any trouble with it take it to guys at Lotus of Calabasas. They have a tech there named Cisco. Any problem I have ever had he has the answers.
Reply:do you really need this car in your life? it sounds quite cheap whats wrong with it has it got full history, is it high miles, has it been in an accident, get it all checked with a full hpi check, then change your mind and buy a mitsibishi evo 6 and have some real fun, good luck.
Reply:That car should cost $40,000. Maybe it is broken and that is wy it is being sold for $8000. If it isn't broken and if it has under 100,000 miles, then yu should get it.

Reply:That deal is too good to be true. Unless it's a mangled wreck, or stolen, there is no way you're getting a 2005 Lotus for 900 bucks. (Hell, even the parts off a wrecked Elise or Exige would be worth more than 900 bucks.)

Lotus Questions?

is a lotus elise or exige manual? And if it is can can u get one that is automatic?

Lotus Questions?
They are all manual since they are made to be driven mainly on road courses. You could probably find a way to convert it to automatic, but it would be MUCH slower, and not a fun at all...defeating the point of the car entirely. Come to your senses and learn to drive a stick, or you might as well go buy a hybrid...lol.
Reply:They are manual. They do not come in automatic. Most high-end sportscars only come in manual such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, and some Porsche models.

You cannot get it in automatic. Just learn Manual. It took me 1 day to learn how to drive one around the streets and 3 days to master it. It is not hard.

Manual cars are lighter, cheaper to fix/buy/maintain, more reliable, more fuel efficient, quicker, and faster than automatics.
Reply:Well it depends the Elise has a automatic or a manual but the exieg is just Manuel.
Reply:Yep they're both manuals and no auto option is avaiable which is the way it should be considering they're both sport cars. Fitting a heavy auto transmission into a lightweight sport car goes against every design aspect Colin Chapman stood for. Both the Elise and the Exige models share the same C64 manual transaxle, aluminium lightweight construction, 6-speed, close ratio, constant mesh helical gears and open differential.

Lotus Notes email signatures - different for external/ internal email?

I use Lotus Notes 6.5.4 at work. Is there a way for it to automatically provide different signatures depending on whether or not it is going to someone inside the company or outside? We have a corporate, worldwide phone system and department codes that don't make sense to external people, and internal people already know what company I work for.

No.. I'm pretty sure that LOtus notes only has one option for a signature.

Lotus Notes - setup problem?

I would like to replace Outlook Express with Lotus Notes for email however, I have a problem I dont know how to fix.

With Notes I can receive mail down to my PC but a copy remains on the ISP server and so I soon hit my ISP storage limits. With Outlook Express it removes the mail from the ISP server once it is downloaded to the PC.

Is there a setting within Notes that allow me to delete all the ISP server mail upon downloading?

Thanks

Lotus Notes - setup problem?
Open the Accounts view in your Lotus Notes address book. Open your POP mail account document in edit mode. On the Protocol Configuration tab, there is an editable option for leaving messages on the server - change that to No.

If you are new to Notes, a link to your address book is on the bookmark bar that runs up and down the left side (third icon down). If you are using R6 or R7, the Accounts view is under the "Advanced" views. If you are using R4 or R5, there is an icon to the advanced views in the bottom left of the address book.

Lotus elise w/ hard top vs. porsche cayman?

some time in the next year im planning on getting a new sports car. Im 18, so its kinda crucial to me. the problem is that they are about the same price, its just the porsche is more of a "class" car and the lotus is a pure sporty car just for plain speed and performance. they also have the dilemmas of the warranty, insurance, convenience, resale value, and so on. also im concerned if the elise will change its body(im not a giant fan of the hood). can someone please give me some pointers?(from what i hear people say, they'd rather have me get the cayman, but its just common here in california)

Lotus elise w/ hard top vs. porsche cayman?
The elise has a Toyota engine, and the Cayman is a better car...but if you want to stand out, then get something at a price point similar to the Cayman -- a Corvette Z06. You can get a 2006 with a couple of thousand miles for $50k - $60k and it will handle nearly as well, but rip the doors off of both. You could also get a 2003 Porsche 911 Cabriolet for around $50k with under 30k miles. This will definitely set you apart from the others, and is in an entire different league than either the Elise, Cayman, or Z06. A third choice might be an Audi RS4. It is "stealth" on the stand out scene, but screams performance on the street.
Reply:Real sports car is a lotus elise. Has the best reliablity. Toyota engine and trany= 200k miles. I have owned all 3. Corvette, everyone has one. Porshe high fees for brakes, oil, so on. Stock lotus 0-60 4.6sec with supercharger 3.8sec. Report It

Reply:While there are alot of similarities, these are really two very different cars.

The Elise is a great car, and the examples I've seen and driven have all had excellent build quality. In terms of performance, it is probably the best handling car made today, and is one of the funnest cars to have at a track day, and will easily keep up with (and pass) much more powerful cars. On the downside, it is completely impractical if this is the only car you'll own.

The Cayman is a bit more practical, but I am not sure it would be that well suited to being someone's only car either. The Cayman has a great chasis, and handles well (it's handling is more forgiving than the Lotus, which is a little more twitchy; the Cayman will drive better in the hands of a less skilled driver). The Caymane offers a bit more comfort, but it is still a car that is fun to drive (though I've only driven the Cayman S, but have driven the base 987 Boxster, so have a good idea of the differences).

Personally, while I spend alot of track time in Porsches, I would probably choose the Elise over the Cayman because it is more of a pure sports car, is quicker, and for me, I enjoy the more direct less forgiving nature. But I have other cars and would not be using this for daily driving or trips to Home Depot!

Both cars should be reliable, though both will be on the more expensive side to maintain. I'd expect both to retain their value fairly well... Porsche traditionally does very well here, but I would actually suspect the Lotus may do better in this case as there are fewer made and higher demand among enthusiasts that would look for the car used (where the Cayman S might fit this role as a used Porsche, most enthusiasts would probably pass on the base model Cayman which will have a negitive impact on it's resale value)... though the current Elise styling is a few years older than the Porsche and probably will be refreshed at least somewhat in the next couple years (which could make the current Elise's value go down when the newer one shows up as a used car).

As for some of the other comments here? While the Z06 is a great car, and a very fast one, it is not in the same class as either the Elise or the Porsche in terms of handling. The Z06 simply lacks the overall balance and rigidity of these chasis'.

The fact that Lotus doesn't make it's own engine is less a comment on the ability of Lotus to make an engine than it is that in motorsports, it is very rare for a chasis maker to also build engines. Lotus is excellent at designing and building chasis and this has always been their strength. The fact that they've matched it with a third party engine that fits the design is hardly a bad thing... and the tweaks they've made to the Toyota power plant are generally good.
Reply:Save your money until you can afford a Porche 911 Turbo, the cayman is such a waste and a bore.

Avoid the Lotus!!!!!!!!!!
Reply:Well, the Lotus's Have never really been known as a quality car. Take for example the fact that it is currently using a Honda (or is it Toyota?) engine. Lotus has never made their own engine, they always outsource them.

I don't know about you, but having an entire car built by Porche seems more secure to me than having the parts for a Lotus outsourced to various other car manufacturers.
Reply:If you are using it as your everyday driver, I would get the Porsche. The cayman is just a more substantical vehicle and will be more pleasant to drive on a dialy basis.
Reply:The lotus will out corner all of the other cars mentioned with ease so if thats what you want it for the go for it, they used to be underpowered but with the toyota engines they are alot quicker than they used to be. Cayman yea well its just another porsche isnt it, you really need to buy a gt2 or gt3 to stand out, the others are commen and not really that exciting. Corvette great but the handling is nowhere near the lotus or the porsche.

It all depends really on what you want the car for, if its a daily driver then trust me the lotus is a pain in the ***. Hard to get in and out of, no luggage space, terrible road noise cause there is no sound deadening and you so close to the ground, but handles like a go kart or about as close as you'll ever get in a road car.

Lotus by R.E.M.?

Is this song referring to the Lotus eaters from Homer's The Odessey (I think I have my facts straight), or is it just about drugs? Or both? Or does anyone know what it's really about? Not an important life question, but I'm just curious as to what people think.

Lotus Notes image problem?

I am using Lotus Notes 6.5 and when I received an external email with Images or at least HTML format, the images can't be seen on the screen but just a red X mark. I already set the Internet Browser of LONO to IE and Notes with IE but it is still not working.

Lotus Notes image problem?
Solution

The main issue concerning red X images in the Notes client is that of reachability.

Notes makes requests from the client to the Internet to the images that reside on a specific server. For example, a Yahoo newsletter may make references, such as %26lt;img src="http: // images.yahoo.com / yahoo.jpg"%26gt;.

Regardless of the browser setting in the Location Document, the "perweb" is the process that retrieves the images.

NOTE: Having an invalid proxy server can also cause this issue:

TROUBLESHOOTING

What to check:

1. For general reachability, check if Microsoft's Internet Explorer (IE) can get to the Internet. If you can view the source of the HTML message, get some of the image references and put them into IE (outside of Notes) to see if the computer can reach the image.

If this is successful, it means the computer itself can reach the images. Now, let's find out if Notes can reach the location.

2. Set the Location Document to use Notes as the default browser and put in the same URL to the image location (as a test, you can enter any website, such as "www.yahoo.com").

-- In some cases, this should be sufficient. In some Notes 5.0 clients, the perweb never gets activated, so the first request will actually get functionality restored.

-- In other cases, this may not work and there may be more red Xs. Check to see if the perweb is there, and regenerate it if you have to.

3. If Step 2 fails, go back to IE and check the LAN settings to see if there is a proxy enabled. If so, go back to Notes and enter the proxy settings in the Location Document. An incorrect proxy setting, such as a bogus location of 127.0.0.1 that has no proxy at all, will give red Xs because it doesn't know where to get the images. After the proxy is set in the Location Document, check the URL again in Notes.

You can also try to:

4. Delete perweb.nsf and the Location document(s).

5. Clear the cache and temporary Internet files on the browser.

6. Copy names.nsf from another workstation that does not exhibit the problem, increasing the TCP/IP timeout in Ports --%26gt; User Preferences on the one workstation that fails to load the images.

The following scenario worked in one particular case in which a customer previously had a proxy server:

7. In the Location Document --%26gt; Basics panel, click the beanie hat next to the Proxy field.

8. Make sure the option, "Use same proxy for all of the above," is unchecked.

These steps should cover about 90% of red X issues.

CASES WITH AUTHENTICATED PROXIES

The following case is only for cases in which authenticated proxies are involved.

Only Notes versions 6.0 and above, and version 5.0.10 and above, support authenticated proxies. The Notes 6.0 client can store authentication settings in the Location Document, whereas the 5.0 clients are prompted once per Notes session.

The main point is that Microsoft proxies that use NTLM (Windows domain authentication / Microsoft security's protocol) is not supported. The protocol is a proprietary protocol (much like NRPC) that Microsoft uses in its suite of products (IE, Outlook, Windows login).

A good indicator that NTLM is enabled is to open IE and get the prompt for authentication where there are three text fields (username, password, domain). In the client, despite best efforts and intentions and countless correct login attempts, the red Xs will still be there.

The only workaround for this is to disable NTLM authentication. You cannot put in domain\username for the user name in Notes when the pop-up appears. On a single server machine, this is in the Internet Information Server (IIS) settings in Administrative tools. Make sure that domain authentication is disabled.

In some cases, some proxy servers are set up to drop and reevaluate user logins. This can cause scenarios in which you can initially view the HTML images and then see them change into the red X or red [image] placeholders the next time you open the same e-mail.

Proper Full Lotus Position?

I have been attempting to practice pranayama, but it requires that you get into a full lotus position... and everytime I do it, my knees feel really strained. What is the proper method on how to get into the full lotus position?

Proper Full Lotus Position?
try the half lotus position, it is much more comfortable and easier on the hips and knees when sitting for a long time

if you insist on doing the full lotus position here are some tips

first, sit upright, and place your foot on top of your thigh with your other foot in front of your lower leg

gently press down on your knee

make sure you work both sides by alternating which leg goes on top of the opposite thigh

with one leg up this stretch is called the half lotus.

spend as long as you need to be comfortable in half lotus, this may be several months, that is fine, when stretching your ligaments and muscles, you want to avoid injuries

it is always better to go slow to avoid injury

keep working your leg down to the floor

eventually, you will be able to pull your lower leg on top of the inner thigh of your upper leg

remember to keep your legs relaxed if your legs are tense there will be pressure between the bones and tissues of the lower leg, this is likely what is happening to you, you may want to work on making sure you can comfortably perform the half lotus and gradually work your way to the full lotus
Reply:That is something that you work up over time. It took a long time to be able to sit with a straight back for more than 15 minutes.. lotus position is the same... work up to it!

Cheers!

Meaning of Lotus??

Do you think Lotus has meaning that Lotus is a key to improve your skin ??

Meaning of Lotus??
yup

We use Lotus at work and I am trying to find user friendly front end screen software...?

I have been surfing the web looking for compatible software that would work as a front end to retrieve the data from Lotus in a quicker way...I run a call center and I already know that Lotus is not the best solution however, it is what we have so I am just looking for added front end software to help with the navigation. Anyone know how I can solve this?

We use Lotus at work and I am trying to find user friendly front end screen software...?
Here's the thing. If you use Lotus Notes with all of the traditional screens and settings, then standard manuals will make sense. If you customize the 'Skins', then technical support might be a more horrific problem.

But if you must, then search for some ways of customizing it.

Try this one:

Help,my lotus plant has been attack by some bugs. How do you prevent it?

Those bugs, yellow in colour, loves to stick on the lotus stem and suck the nutrients.By doing that, the lotus looses its nutrients and therefore die.It really hurts my heart to see them die. They were previously very healthy but now, after theses bugs came,it starts to rot and die off.Help me!!....Are there any ways of preventing or killing these bugs besides using pesticides???...

Help,my lotus plant has been attack by some bugs. How do you prevent it?
Get an empty spray bottle , fill it with water and a teaspoon of cayenne pepper. Spray everyday. And this will discourage the pest. If they are stuck to the stem and do not come off with the spray get a q-tip and rubbing Alcohol and dab the bug with the tip. This should take care of it. But continue with the spray until pest are gone.
Reply:find some "lady bugs" and invite them into your garden. I KNOW they live on aphids in my tomato garden..Never used pesticides good luck and a good question as well!
Reply:Disyston sold at nurseries, systemic insecticide. smells bad, works good.

How to create a Lotus Notes calendar entry via external email w/ Lotus Script?

I'm working with an external web-based application that schedules training sessions.

We want to improve integration with the Lotus Notes running on

employee desktops.

What I'd like to do is, when we create an automated email

confirmation with class signup, create a script or have the actual email document create an appointment entry for the time of that class.

I do quite a bit of programming, but am pretty new to Lotus Notes.

First of all, is this feasible, and, if so, can someone point me to

the best place to step me through how to do it?

Would the email document itself be the appointment document? Would it be some sort of attachment that would do this, or do I need to create some kind of executable script that would run off of a button on the HTML email document?

Thanks for any help or advice.

How to create a Lotus Notes calendar entry via external email w/ Lotus Script?
Lotus Script is very similar to VBA.

What do you is you embed a button in the email

that will trigger the addition of the calendar entry

when clicked.

People in big organizations using lotus notes

receive emails with such buttons all the time.

The only thing you need to get you started is

somebody to send you such email, so you can

take a look at the code.

I leave you below a link to a place you can find a lot

of scripts.

Why is Lotus Notes 7 interpreting my HTML signature file different than Lotus Notes 6 ?

Different than with Lotus Notes 6 some HTML tags are not interpreted correctly, for example border=1 in the %26lt;TABLE%26gt; tag: border is always thick. bordercolor is ignored at all.

Why is Lotus Notes 7 interpreting my HTML signature file different than Lotus Notes 6 ?
lotus notes is just like browsers. every browser displays things differently. even different versions of the same browser displays things differently. that's because they are continually evolving.

obviously lotus notes 7 has been changed since version 6 arrived. go to the company website or search google for update info.

Dark Lotus???

I have all three dark lotus albums. However i still am unsure of what the lotus stands for. I mean i know it has something to do with heavan and hell or whatever. does it go deeper?

MMFCL

Dark Lotus???
umm ya it kinda gets deeper, dark lotus is a group of people that have witnessed heaven and hell and they havent really gotten any satisfaction out of it and havent found there peace of mind, (thats there first cd) and now they are just sitting on earth waiting for there time to go and whatnot, its confusing but at the same time its simple, so pretty much dark lotus stands for the same thing as the insane clown posse does

In Lotus Notes, we have replication, not sure what that is?

We use Lotus Notes at work. I could ask but I'd rather find out from the yahoo gang if possible. Throughout my work day I see, from time to time, a replication tab which appears. It lists the number of email transmissions and othe related IT occurrences in Lotus Notes, or at least I believe they are Notes related. Can I adjust it so replication occurs from just 12am to 3am while I am not at work. It bothers me because it is an extra tab up while I am working on emails and Notes. Or is it backing up my system, or something like that? Therefore, probably a necessary process which I must not interrupt? thanks.

In Lotus Notes, we have replication, not sure what that is?
Records and files from multiple servers copy their information to each other such that all the data on all servers is up to date. The Notes administrator can set the schedule. But if you're using Outlook, you can just setup a rule to move all the messages from Notes to a separate folder. Hope this helps...

Dark Lotus question? (Juggalo's only because you'll probaly be the only one's who can give me the answer)

I know that Dark Lotus originally consisted of violent J, Shaggy, monoxide, madrox, Blaze, and mars. But, why was mars kicked out of Dark Lotus and bumped from Pyscopathic records?

Dark Lotus question? (Juggalo's only because you'll probaly be the only one's who can give me the answer)
There were contract issues and legal troubles.

He had a falling out with Violent J and was dropped.

He even made songs dissing J and everyone else on Psychopathic.

I feel like he didn't take Psychopathic records seriously.

He didn't understand what a Juggalo was and was just trying to get a rap deal and become famous.

I'm not dissing him in anyway because I think he's a good rapper.

But he was never a real Juggalo because family doesn't turn on family. (At least they shouldn't)

He could have just accepted the troubles and not dissed everyone.

Blue lotus tea extract.?

I got some blue lotus tea extract 20 x.how do prepare this to consume?the texture is like ground coffee can i just mix it in with some hot water and drink it like tea?How does blue lotus make you feel?Do you feel the effects pretty good?Thank you ALL.

Blue lotus tea extract.?
I would imagine that you could use a French press if its texture is like that of coffee. If you are not familiar with a French press, it is basically a coffee maker. You would stir the grounds in with the warmed water and let it sit between 4-5 minutes like a tea. Then the press would separate the grounds and you would be left with the drink.

They can be a little pricey in a store, so I would look around online for a decent deal. Bodum makes a very nice French Press.

A Tea bag would work too, but something tells me that it wouldn't do as good a job.
