The dampeners have been changed and it still does it and it's getting worse. But when you turn off the engine for a few minutes it stops. Then when the car has warmed up again it starts again. The Lotus garage couldn't find anything.
My 2001 S2 Lotus Elise makes a very loud creaking sound when warm from right rear area.?
Could it be the suspension bushes/brushes might be worn? - my little Ford KA does it too. Sounds really creaky right? My Dad (ex-engineer) said mine would last another couple of thousand miles.
Hope this might help.
p.s. I am always sceptical of garages - depends if you get someone that can 'be bothered' to look properly these days
Reply:Oh dear this is what you need to do.
First of all it is a Rover K series engine possibly the worst engine you could put in a sportscar that will be driven hard.
The technicians won't find anything because it could be a number of things.
If you like the elise save up a bit more money and get a newer one with a Toyota VVTi engine, you will have no problems at all.

Reply:Do you have any fat people in the car at the same time?
Reply:Are you serious? You drive the car to show off! Who really cares if it makes a noise? Doesn't that get attention too? Ride a moped!
Reply:That's not your car, that's the dog you just ran over.
