How much does it cost to charge a Lotus Tesla with electric?

Lotus Tesla is the new electric sports car thats coming out next year. It looks like a Lotus Elise. I wan't to ditch my gas guzzler and buy an electrically powered Lotus Tesla car next year. They come with an electrical kit so you can charge them up at home. They take 2 hours to charge can be driven for 250 miles on a single charge. They can reach 60 mph in 4 secs. So pretty good all round sportscar performance but how much would they cost in electrical terms to fill the tank?

You have to think of it in terms of energy, not power. The total energy of the batteries is 53 kilowatt hours. A good number for the cost of electricity is 10 cents per kWh. Therefore, in theory, it should cost $5.30 to "fill up" your car.
Reply:Look at the ratings on the batteries and add them up. Sixteen 750 amp-hour batteries can store 12 Kw of energy. As to how much 12 Kw costs, that depends on how it was generated.
